Students are then challenged to create a design worth a given amount based on that block’s value. For extra creativity, they name their design. Then, they must justify that their design is a solution to the challenge by writing a “Convince Me” statement. These digital equivalent fraction tasks are powerful tools for building a concrete understanding of fractions. Your students will be completely engaged and challenged as they create pattern block pictures equal to a given fraction amount. The leveled tasks are AMAZINGLY EFFECTIVE! The activities use the proportional relationships between Pattern Blocks to build an understanding of unit and equivalent fractions and comparing.
